70 Heart Surgeries
70 patients have been operated in the cardiovascular surgery department of the private hospital Clinicco, since the inauguration of the department – at the end of April 2010 – and up to this point.
The first open heart surgery took place in absolute premiere at Brasov at the end of April 2010. A full team consisting of the most renowned cardiovascular surgeons, anaesthesiologists and operating block nurses from the Heart Institute of Cluj-Napoca have permanently relocated to Brasov, at ICCO clinics.
The medical team is the only one in the country that carries out, on a routine basis, aortocoronary bypass while the heart is beating and complex valve plasty using ring, two state of the art surgical methods, having major benefits for patients as compared to the classical ones. In addition this is the first time such procedures are carried out in a private hospital from Romania.
Among the cardiovascular surgery operations which are conducted at ICCO Clinics there are also numbered the following: left ventricular reconstruction subsequent to ventricular aneurysm, as well as combined surgical interventions, cardiac tumors surgery, adult congenital cardiac malformations surgeries and vascular surgery.
In order to benefit from specialized medical services provided by ICCO Clinics, the patients have to be scheduled either for a consultation with one of the hospital’s physicians either for checking into the hospital in order to get a coronarography – minimally invasive procedure-diagnosis in the field of cardiology. Subsequent to the performance of the coronarography and the clear knowledge of the diagnosis, the patient will have the possibility of choosing together with his cardiology physician the best treatment, which may include interventional, surgical techniques, or a mixed solution. When checking into the hospital the patients have to bring a reference ticket from the general practitioner or from a specialist physician, the salary certificate endorsed by CAS (Health Insurance House) or a pension coupon, as well as all medical analyses that reflect the history of the disease.
Once with the inauguration of the cardiovascular surgery department, ICCO Clinics have become a complete medical centre for heart patients – considering the fact that at Brasov already functions, for over a year, the interventional cardiology department. ICCO Clinics represent the only hospital from the entire Brasov County which provides free of charge - within the agreement with the Health Insurance House, and 24 hours a day state of the art treatments for any major cardiovascular emergency, such as: acute myocardial infarction, acute atrioventricular block installed, as well as dissecting aortic aneurysm and blocked valve.
