Radiofrequency ablation is a procedure used to treat arrhythmias, by scarring the tissue in the heart that triggers the irregular heartbeats. During this procedure, thin tubes with wires, called electrode catheters, are inserted into the heart to record the heart’s electrical signals. These electrode catheters may also be used to destroy the tissue causing the arrhythmia.
