Discharge from the ICCO Clinic of Orthopaedics

Discharge from our department has to be approved by the Attending Physician, who determines whether the patient is fit to leave the hospital. Discharges take place between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. and you can leave the hospital in the company of your next of kin or by yourself.

Herein under are the documents that you will receive upon discharge:
  • Hospital discharge letter/medical letter (two original counterparts: one for you and one for your family physician) – that includes the hospitalisation period, information regarding your diagnosis, the intervention performed, recommendations, treatment.
  • Prescription with the recommended medication
  • Certificate of medical leave that includes the hospitalisation period and a maximum period of 21 days, with the possibility of extension upon the specialist's recommendation (except in the case of patients who are hospitalised for two or more months; in this case, the certificate of medical leave is issued on the last day of each month, in order to be submitted to the employer)

The invoice value (for hospitalisation and surgery) will be paid on the day of the discharge. In what the method of payment is concerned, patients can opt for one of the following:

  • Payment by debit card – VISA or MAESTRO (in this case you have to be aware of the limit imposed by your bank)
  • By payment order (in this case you have to request for the invoice to be issued one day prior to your discharge and to submit the payment order that has been approved by the issuing bank)
  • By bank transfer (online banking)
