Our Department of Cardiovascular Surgery has had a double premiere: performing the first open heart surgery in Brasov City and in the Romanian private health system. Our medical team has a rich experience in the entire range of adult cardiac surgeries. In particular, we should mention the aortocoronary bypass interventions exclusively with arterial grafting, which are performed for all categories of patients, including diabetic patients; valve repair; valve replacement with various types of prostheses, including state of the art biological prostheses and stentless valve replacement.
Our team also possesses a lot of experience in surgeries involving the thoracic and abdominal aorta, since it performs the entire range of interventions in this field, including interventions for the replacement of the aortic root by preserving the native aortic valve. Among the cardiovascular surgeries that we perform we can also list surgeries involving mechanical complications of the acute myocardial infarction: the geometric reconstruction of the left ventricle in case of a ventricular aneurism, mitral valvuloplasty in case of an ischaemic mitral insufficiency and ventricular septal defect repair after a cardiac arrest etc.
We also deal with complex cardiac diseases that involve combined surgical interventions: aortocoronary bypass + valvuloplasty, aortocoronary bypass + treatment of the mechanical complications of myocardial infarction; aortocoronary bypass + treatment of the carotid stenosis, multiple valvuloplasties. Other pathological segments that can be treated in our service are congenital heart malformations in adults, cardiac tumours, as well as peripheral vascular surgical procedures (carotid surgery, surgical treatment of abdominal aortic aneurisms, suprainguinal bypasses etc.).
In collaboration with interventional cardiologists we perform vascular endoprosthesis implantations in order to treat abdominal or thoracic-abdominal aortic aneurisms, with or without complications. This is the most modern method of treatment that has minimal risks and maximum comfort for the patient. We are the only centre in this field where endoprosthesis implantation is available at any time.
