Terms and information regarding the admission to the Cardiology Department

Patients' admission to the Cardiology Department with the view to undergoing interventions or investigations shall be made according to a pre-established appointment. You should present yourself for admission on the date and at the time of the appointment. You can check this information by phone at 0733/008195 or 0268/401203, from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Documents required for admission to the CARDIOLOGY Department
Upon admission, please present the following documents:
  • the National Health Insurance Card
  • a Referral with a barcode issued by your family physician or by your consultant (valid for 30 days from the issue date). Attention! It is mandatory for the patient to present the referral upon admission. Referrals that have been issued after the patient's admission are inadmissible.
  • the Identity Card
  • all the medical documentation that you possess (specialty exams for the diseases you have, hospital discharge letters, medical letters, ultrasound bulletins, computed tomographies or any other investigations, lab work, CDs with CT or NMR scans etc.)
Certificates required depending on the place of employment or the patient's status as a student or as a retired person:
  • Employees: certificate from the workplace (valid for 3 months from the issue date) that includes the days of medical leave taken for the last 12 months (the certificate of medical leave shall be issued upon discharge)
  • Retired persons: the last pension slip;
  • Persons retired on medical grounds: the latest pension slip and a copy of the retirement decree;
  • Pupils and students: certificate from the educational institution and a copy of the school report card that shows the endorsement for the current school year;
  • Individually insured people: the last receipt of direct payment or a certificate from the County Insurance Fund of the county in which they reside, certifying that the person is insured;
  • Unemployed persons residing outside Brasov County: certificate from the County Insurance Fund of the county in which they reside.
Lab work and investigations required for admission to the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery

For valvular patients:

  • Panoramic dental X-ray + dental exam that confirms the absence of infection centres and cavities
  • Pharyngeal secretion (throat culture)
  • ENT exam
  • Urine culture
  • Gynaecological examination (only for women)

For coronary patients:

  • Pharyngeal secretion (throat culture)
  • Urine culture

Upon admission you should also bring some personal hygiene products (towel, slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste etc.), 2-3 pyjamas and a mug. You shouldn't bring tableware, food or water.

After filling-in the Patient Observation Sheet you shall be asked to carefully read the Consent Form for the medical procedures that you shall be subjected to and sign it. Then, the orderly shall take you to your room. Once you have been taken to your room you must change into hospital clothes (pyjama, slippers). Throughout the hospitalisation period your clothes shall be kept in a special wardrobe.

The physician's visit

On the day of the admission, one of the attending physicians shall talk to you about your detailed medical history, s/he shall analyse the lab work and, if necessary, s/he shall recommend more lab work. The Consultant and the Anaesthesiologist who will perform your surgery shall also come to visit you and you shall talk about your diagnosis and about the treatment options.

Advice for patients:

Upon admission you will need:

  • personal hygiene products (towel, non-slippery slippers, toothbrush etc.);
  • 2-3 pyjamas and a mug for the medicines you are taking for your chronic diseases;

Upon admission you are NOT allowed to bring food (including fruit). Moreover you shouldn't bring any tableware. Our external catering service provides a varied menu that is also personalised for the patients suffering from diabetes.

We recommend that you do not bring jewellery and that you do not wear nail polish.
